BUREAU OF SILLY IDEAS - THE CAMPAIGN FOR CUSTARD PIES
All day throughout the festival
The Great Pie Off 4.45pm in the Big Top
Did you know Pie Throwing was the original Olym-pie-c sport!
Since 2008 Bureau Of Silly Ideas have been keeping the art of pie throwing alive. The Campaign For Custard Pies has received the support of over 150,000 signatories and boasts an elite team of champion trainers.
The sport has been struggling to find the pie throwing stars of tomorrow. We at BOSI are on a quest to find them, train them and pass on the secrets of this elusive art form - in the hope that one day Pie Throwing will again be on the Olympic schedule.
Throw your best custard pie for a spot in the Great Pie-Off at the end of the festival!
(All pies are strictly vegan, and no animals have been harmed in the making of the pies. Side effects may include pies in the face.)
AROUND THE FESTIVAL
Everything else at the festival:
There’ll be plenty to see and do, including a circus skills and games area (very popular last year) with plate spinning, stilt walking and hula hooping for starters.
We’ll also have all day art activities; Pink Parrot Pottery will be arriving at FAF at their all-new mobile studio where you’ll be able to paint your very own Jeffrey, our colourful mascot, alongside a selection of super ceramics.
The brilliant Chris Mayne is back to fill the skies with giant bubbles and the Black Cactus Choir will be singing some modern hits.
The mercury Theatre will also be joining us with a mask making workshop and artist Anne Schwegmann- Fielding will be there to show off the creative work from the people of Brighlingsea and the work they did to create a fully decorated mosaic boat.
There will be a quiet space for visitors to catch their breath and return to a zen like state and community stalls to peruse.
You’ll also find ice cream, tea and coffee, food stalls and a bake sale!
So what ever you get up to at FAF, we hope you have a silly time!
