LIVE AT THE LIDO!

In the run up to FAF, we’re programming live performance at the Lido every Saturday in August. Expect to be dazzled & dazed by shows of incredible strength, skill & imagination!

Programming has been a real community effort. Trustees and volunteers from our loved community Lido have worked together to hand select shows they thought you’d like.

We’ve got a mix of circus, extreme hula hooping, garden juggling, balloons galore and more!

Book for either the morning or afternoon slot at the Lido on the dates below and you can expect to see one of these great, mind-boggling acts:

SUNDAY 31st JULY -
CIRCO RUM BA BA: The Box

12.30PM + 3.30PM
Strange sounds and notes are heard from within and it soon becomes clear that what is inside is keen to get out. Gradually a myriad of eyes, feet, claws and wings begin to emerge as creatures appear from all sides. This bottomless box contains an impossible collection of wondrous beasts and bizarre beings in an explosion of tap dancing, puppetry, contortion, shadow puppets, acrobatics and music.

SATURDAY 6th AUGUST -
BALLOONATICS:
The Bonkers Balloon Show

12.30PM +3PM
The Bonkers Balloon Show is a completely off the wall, unique show filled with comedy, circus fun, music, magic and lots and lots of balloons. A simple balloon gets turned into an alien, a helicopter and an air guitar, audience members are transformed into balloon creatures in front of your very eyes, and a magic trick makes a balloon appear from nowhere.

SATURDAY 13th AUGUST - INTERSTELLAR:
Wonder Woman Hula Hooping

12.30PM + 3PM
Diana The International Woman of Mystery introduces herself, then changes into Wonder Woman while hula hooping. The main issue is how she actually does the spin and changes costume so fast, or not so fast in this case. She plays out the story of saving the world from the Inimitable Dr Evil. With the help of her love interest and sidekick, Steve, she defies all odds and manages to escape the evil laser rings that Dr Evil throws her way.

SATURDAY 20th AUGUST - FAIRLY FAMOUS:
Grow Your Own

12.30pm + 3pm
Sit amongst the flowers on the perfect grassy lawn (provided!) and enjoy magic disappearing slugs, juggling with a sickle and two razor sharp…lemons! A recreation of Peter Rabbits daring escape from Mr. McGregor’s sack, more spectacular than Gardener’s Question Time and better horticultural advice than the Chinese state circus!!

SATURDAY 27th August - JELLY ROLLERS:
The Pram (music installation)

12pm + 3pm
Attention! Colourful Edwardian character wheels, a curious bubble-blowing, musical cart. Jolly street organ tunes accompanied by percussion and taxi horn from a one man bandemonium!
